Great facts about Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh,the current heart throb of the nation always manages to make my heart skip a beat with his wicked smile and contagious energy whenever I see any of his work or appearances. However,I’ll try and list down some lesser known facts about the BABA of bollywood. So here goes the list:

• Ranveer Singh’s full name is Ranveer Singh Bhavnani. He dropped his surname because he thought that it’s not only too long but also unmemorable. He even thought of changing his name Ranveer as he thought it sounds similar to Ranbir.
• Unlike other actors,he never did modelling straight after college. His first job was that of a copywriter at the renowned ad agency O&M.
• He always wanted to begin with a lead role as he felt that a fresh face is always better for a lead. That’s the reason he never did any ads,video songs before his first movie. (Such a confident gamble must say).
• He rejected 3 movies before Band Baaja Baraat.
• He was the first choice for Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet but couldn’t do it because of his commitment to Ram leela.(isn’t this good luck always parting with Ranveer and against Ranbir?).
• Big B sent a handwritten letter to Ranveer after seeing his performance in Ram Leela.
• According to Ranveer,to charm a girl,a guy needs to do 3 things namely have a good sense of humour,give a charming smile and smell fresh and masculine and not like a bunch of flowers.(Now how many girls out there are looking for these? I for one,do).
• He’s probably the only mainstream actor in Bollywood who had the guts to endorse a condom ad. Kudos to you for being different and kudos to you for being Ranveer Singh.
• Ranveer describes his on screen kiss in Ramleela with Deepika to be his best one till date but he also says he couldn’t get his eyes off her.
• He is the only debutant cast by YashRaj as a solo hero in a movie.
• The 3 mentors of his life are his father,his first producer Aditya Chopra and his first director Maneesh Sharma.
• Ranveer’s mom doesn’t like seeing him die on screen(which he has in many of his films like lootera,Ram leela or Gunday) which is why he never wanted his mother to watch Bajirao Mastani. But his mother insisted and watched the movie. However,his mother is keen on watching a movie having him and Deepika where he doesn’t die in the end.(enough hints already).
• Ranveer didn’t charge a single penny for Bajirao Mastani from the makers as he opted for profit sharing.
• He is one true foodie. His chiselled body may suggest otherwise but he loves junk food to the core. And Chinese cuisine is his fav.

  2. He has been filmy since childhood. There is an interesting incident from his childhood when Ranveer had gone for a birthday party. When he was asked by his grandmother to entertain her, he jumped in the lawn and started dancing to the song ‘Chumma chumma‘.

According to a report on Pinkvilla.com, a cancer patient, who is a big fan of Ranveer Singh, has written a letter to express his gratitude to Ranveer. He claims that it was Ranveer’s energy that helped him cure himself. Not only has he thanked the actor, he has also used the opportunity to advise Ranveer to use the letter to cheer himself when in a bad mood. He wrote, “Today, as I walk into the theatre to watch Dil Dhadakne Do, I can feel the change over these two years, especially my ever so growing gratitude for this guy. That’s growing at a bullet’s pace. Thank you, sir.”

When he was asked to come up and perform something for the class, which was full of foreign students, Ranveer performed Bachchan’s famous dialogue from “Deewar.” Even though the students in his class did not understand a word of what he said, he received a big applause from them.

  8. He watched “Swades” in 2004 when he was studying in the U.S. He was contemplating staying back in the U.S, but the film made him realize that whatever he wanted to do in life, he should do it in India.

  9. As a young boy, Ranveer had fallen and hurt his head. He was crying continuously, and the doctor had to put a bandage around his head. It was when his mum told him that he was looking like Aamir Khan in “Dil” that he started smiling.

  10. The weekend that Hrithik Roshan became an overnight star, Ranveer was playing galli (street) cricket with his friends in Juhu. Ranveer suddenly realized that Hrithik was passing by in his car. Ranveer ran behind his car and managed to see only the back of Hrithik’s head, but went on to boast to his friends about how he had seen the back of the star’s head.
