Venezuelan opposition leaders and rivals, Juan Guaido and Nicolas Maduro’s politics experienced a shift after Guaido promulgated himself as President of the country.

On Thursday at a public event, Venezuela’s self-proclaimed president, Guaido said that agents from a feared special police unit were at his home asking for his wife. He claims that it is an indication of increasing pressure on the opposition leader trying to topple the government.

Guaido concluded the conference and left for home, asking diplomats to accompany him. He expressed anger in his last statement of the public event:

“I will hold you responsible for any intimidation of my baby, who is just 20 months old.”
