New Delhi. On January 12, the Indian government has made a big change in the passport rules, in the passport, the father’s name is unnecessary. This decision was taken after the report of the three-member committee of Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Women and Child Development.

This committee was considering the demand for the removal of the father’s name in the passport. The first voice raised about this demand was that a single parent of Mumbai, Jairia Patni, 25-year-old Jaria said in the conversation that logically this change was very important.

This is a sign of a big change for women. I want to thank all those who understood and supported them. In December, Jaria picked up this topic in the right direction of women. They demanded that changes in the old rules regarding passport and visa applications should be made, in which the child’s name or consent is necessary for a minor child.

Jaria also filed an online petition on Change.org. She also sent a letter to the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the mail. While taking the demand of Jaria seriously, the government had made necessary changes in the rules in December itself. Then in the application of the passport, arrangement was given to give the name of any one of the parents or the name of the legal guardian.

It was also arranged that on the demand of the applicant, the name of any one of the parents should be published on the passport. Jaria is seeing a change in passport as a big symbolic change.

Actually, Jaria was divorced in 2012, troubling her husband’s cruelty. Jaria received the responsibility of raising the son from the court. The problem came when the son applied for the passport. It was mandatory to name the father in it. The father’s consent was also required for visa approval.

Jaria said, I had applied in November, but even after cutting out several rounds of passport office, I was not heard. Then I wrote a letter to Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj.

When asked about the response of the government, Jaria said, “When I had summoned Sushma ji, she had been unhealthy, so I could not meet her, but the Foreign Ministry contacted me and said that you once again : Arrive at the passport office, we will hear everything.

There I was told that you do not fill the form of the section, leave it blank. On December 24, the government also announced a change in passport rules. After divorcing her husband, Jaria had left Dubai for her parents in Mumbai.

Here in the works of your sister’s photography studio, she started helping her. Jaria herself is a professional photographer. Right now, she is also managing his father’s logistics business.

At the same time, Jaria Patani says that things will change from this. This is not just an issue of ending male domination in passport, but it is an effective message for the elimination of the typical narrow-minded, male dominating thinking that understands women less than men.
