President Ramnath Kovind posthumously awarded Ashok Chakra, the martyr’s commander of the Air Force, Shaheed Jyoti Prakash Nirala.

new Delhi. On the occasion of Republic Day, President Ramnath Kovind honored Shaheed Garuda Commando of Air Force Jyoti Prakash Nirala with Ashok Chakra, the highest honor of peace. Commando Jyoti was martyred while fighting terrorists in Bandipora, Kashmir.

Before the martyr, the Air Force personnel had killed three dreaded terrorists. In that encounter, a total of six militants were killed by the army personnel. Among those terrorists was the nephew of Lashkar commander Lakhvi Ubaid alias Osama and Mahmud Bhai. Shaheed Nirala also saved his injured colleagues by playing on his own life.

 

The third fighter who received the highest honor.

Afterreceiving the highest respect for gallantry in the uninterrupted peace, three members of the Air Force have joined. Before Nirala, Flying Officer Nirmaljeet Singh Sikhon was given posthumous Param Vir Chakra to show the amazing courage in the 1971 war. Squadron Leader Rakesh Sharma was also given Ashok Chakra in 1984.
