Yes, on these places for wearing a green sheets, on the day of Basant Panchami, a blanket of yellow flowers is offered, people sit and sing the songs of the spring. But let’s tell you what’s the reason.

Takiuddin Noah’s death
A nephew of Saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was Takiuddin Noah, whom he loved so much. But he died due to illness. Hazrat Nizamuddin became very unhappy about this and his mental condition worsened in his memory. They did not talk to anybody or laugh. Amir Khusro wanted to see him laugh again. He made many attempts for this but nothing happened. On the other hand, one day Amir Khusro saw a lot of women wearing a yellow sari, taking yellow flowers in a mug in hand and singing the song. All the women were singing with great joy. The weather was in the vicinity, like yellow dresses of these women, the fields of yellow mustard were also appearing in the fields. Everywhere happiness and peace was seen, and everyone was very happy in this season. In the meantime, Amir Khusro got an idea in mind that why he did not even do this for his master too.

Only then did he wear a yellow dagger and a scarf, put a dholak in his neck and take yellow flowers in his hands and sing songs and dance. Hajrat Nizamuddin Auliya could not stop his laugh while watching this disciple singing in the guise of women. Remembering this day, Basant Panchami is celebrated every year on his dargah.
