Google honored Nobel laureate American scientist Har Gobind Khurana on his birthday by creating a doodle. It was his 96th birthday on 9th January.

Har Gobind Khurana got the Nobel Prize because of the work done on DNA and synthetic gene structure.

Khurana was born in a village in Raipur and his primary education was done under the guidance of his father. After completing his Bachelor and Masters degree from Lahore Khurana moved to London to do PhD.

Got Citizenship of US in 1966-

In Zurich, he did a long research on nucleic acids and proteins under the direction of Professor Vladimir Prilog. Khurana moved to Canada in 1952, and working there in the University of British Columbia, completed the research related to the Nobel Prize. A few years later Professor Khurana came to the United States from Canada Here he worked at the University of Wisconsin In view of his work, in 1966, the US gave him his citizenship.

Khurana got Nobel Prize-

Professor Khurana was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1968 for the work done on Genetic Code and Protein Synthesis with Robert Holly and Marshall Nireberg in the field of Medicine. Khurana formed the first artificial gene structure in 1972.

In 2011, at the age of 89, Professor Har Gobind Khurana breathed for the last time in Massachusetts, USA.
