The microblogging and news website that has become part of the lives of ordinary people is spreading false news on Twitter.

This can be estimated by an American research published in the journal Science. According to this, false news on Twitter is being re-tweeted more than 70 percent. Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have made this claim after studying 1.26 million news stories.

Studied between 2006-07

Researchers have studied news on Twitter between 2006 and 2007. It contains 1.26 lakh news stories. These news had been retweeted about 4.5 million times by about 3.4 million people on Twitter. It was found that most of the contents are purely rumors. They had no relation to any real incident, in which false political news is found trending even more. Research has found that in Twitter news stories, false news related to politics are posted at a higher rate. In the study 1.26 lakh news reports had the maximum 45 thousand news related to politics. These reports were repatriated without correcting in false cases. After the false reports of politics, the most trending news is the news of trade, terror, science and other areas.

Robots are not used

Researchers found in the study that the dissemination of incorrect reports is not done through a particular Internet boat or robot, but via Twitter users. People are constantly re-posting false news. According to the researchers, real news is posted at low speeds than false news.
