Handloom products of Madhya Pradesh are being displayed in various programs in New Delhi under National Handloom Day celebrations.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today inaugurated the National Handloom Exhibition at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, in which Chanderi and Maheshwari handloom products of Madhya Pradesh were displayed. The exhibition will continue till August 9, 2023.
Chanderi weaving by Basim Mohd., Zaheen Mohd. Qureshi and Mohd. Dilshad and Maheshwari weave by Moolchand Shravanekar are being displayed in the exhibition.
Display stalls of handloom and handicrafts-chanderi, maheshwari, batik print, bagh print and zari-zardozi have been set up by the weavers and artisans of the state till August 16, 2023, at the Handloom Haat located at Janpath, in which handloom art is being displayed live. Stalls have also been set up by the state’s national award winners at INA’s Dilli Haat till August 14, 2023.
National Handloom Day is being celebrated at the national level since 2015 to pay tribute to the Swadeshi movement that started on August 7, 1905.
