Yusuf Pathan announced on Twitter on Saturday (March 27) that he had tested positive for COVID-19. The news came the same day that iconic batsman Sachin Tendulkar declared that virus tests had come out positive.
The former India cricketer, 38, has confirmed that he is suffering from moderate symptoms of the virus and is experiencing self-isolation at home with all required precautions and medical treatment.
“Today, I tested positive for COVID-19 with only slight symptoms. Following the confirmation, I have quarantined myself at home and am taking all appropriate precautions and medication,” Pathan, who was a member of Tendulkar’s India Legends team in the Road Safety Series, tweeted.
“I would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest.”
This year’s Road Safety World Series matches were held in Raipur, and India defeated Sri Lanka Legends in the final to claim the title last Sunday (March 21). Many other major names in Indian cricket, including the Pathan brothers and Sachin Tendulkar, took part in the enthralling tournament.
Sachin Tendulkar, the Master Blaster, revealed on Saturday morning that he had tested positive after exhibiting moderate symptoms. According to Sports Today, the famous cricketer, who is under quarantine at home, had a slight fever on Friday but was well by Saturday morning.
Irfan, Yusuf’s brother, wished for his elder brother’s swift recovery. “Get well soon, Lala,” he replied to Yusuf’s tweet. It goes without saying that the two brothers are incredibly similar.
Since many Indian cricketing legends participated in RSL 2021 together, there is a good chance that other Indian cricketing legends have contracted the deadly virus.
Yusuf Pathan’s all-round performance in the Road Safety World Series final helped India Legends defeat Sri Lanka Legends by 14 runs. India made 181 for 4 in their first innings, with Yusuf making an unbeaten 62 off 36 and Yuvraj making 60 off 41.
In response, Sri Lanka made 167 for 7, with Yusuf taking 2 for 26 and Irfan Pathan taking 2 for 29. The man of the final was Yusuf.
With Virender Sehwag and S Badrinath falling cheaply, India was reduced to 35 for 2, but Sachin Tendulkar offered a strong base by scoring 30 off 23. Yuvraj and Yusuf persisted, with Yusuf speeding towards the end to lead India to a major victory.
