Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the BJP candidate won on post of president in 121 Janpad Panchayats out of 170.

In some districts, the Congress could not make out even a single seat, he said.

The election for post of presidents and vice presidents in Janpad Panchayats was held on Wednesday in the state.

He thanked the rural populace for supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party in the recently held three-tier panchayat elections.

Chouhan said the government is committed to make the villages self reliant working on lines of the Atmanirbhar Bharat  concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The fair price shops in villages will be converted into multipurpose shops, he said.

The government wants to develop each village into a single self reliant developed unit wherein value addition of agriculture produce or any other artisan work is done there only and marketed outside, Chouhan said.

The majra/tolas (small habitat) which are yet not connected with the main roads of villages will be linked soon by constructing roads, he said.

The government will also see that the villagers get benefit of the different welfare schemes and earn livelihood, he said.
