Congress leader, ex-MP and retired Lieutenant Colonel  Manvendra Singh said the central government is pushing so called reforms (through Agnipath recruitment scheme for Army) has to be transparent and not at the cost of opportunities of the youth.

He was addressing a press conference at  the AICC headquarters, Delhi on Friday.

He said today the registration process for Agniveer under Agnipath recruitment scheme has started and it will be clear by end of one month how many applications are received for Agniveer.

Presently Singh is holding a post of the chairman of the Sainik Kalyan Board Rajasthan.

Singh expressed fear of affecting the unit cohesion on posting of two types of soldiers in a unit of Army – one appointed in traditional way and another through Agnipath scheme.

He pointed out the delay in appointment of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

Singh said seven months have passed on death of  CDS Vipin Rawat in accident  the post is unfilled, the government framed new rules on June 7 last over fortnight time is passed still no appointment.

Still it is not clear who will be the next CDS, he quipped.
