On Friday the Tamil Nadu government has announced a lockdown extension till July 5th. In few districts, some Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted.

On the 28th of June, the continuous lockdown was set to end at 6 a.m.
In addition, nine cases of the novel Delta Plus coronavirus have been reported in Tamil Nadu.

The relaxations in lockdown norms, with effect from June 28, include the reopening of places of worship and malls in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengelpet districts. Public transportation has been resumed in 23 other districts.

Gyms, yoga centers (with a 50% occupancy), museums, and protected sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in 27 districts except 11, including Coimbatore and Thanjavur. People can go to the beach from
5 a.m. to 9 a.m. across the state.

In the northern Tamil Nadu districts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengelpet shopping complexes/malls, and places of worship will reopen. The government has categorized all 38 districts into three separate groups. For the purpose of easing curbs in a planned manner.

The TN government imposed a lockdown from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. due to an increase in Covid-19 instances. Following a progressive drop in the number of instances, the government has been gradually lifting restrictions.

There were 28 deaths, including a 26-year-old female from Krishnagiri who died of COVID-19 pneumonia and had no co-morbidity.

Meanwhile, MA Subramanian, the Minister for Medical and Family Welfare, announced that a 32-year-old nurse had recovered after testing positive for the novel Delta Plus type. “The symptoms were mild and she recovered after completing home quarantine for 14 days. She is hale and healthy now and has joined duty..,” he told reporters.

Apart from the Covid-19 patients, those affected by the ‘Black Fungus’ disease have been included in the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. 423 people have been insured under the scheme.
The virus was also found to be ‘negative’ in her family and coworkers.

In a similar study, Kattur village in Thiruvarur district became the first in the state to vaccinate its entire population. The village has a population of 3,332 people, with 998 of them being above the age of 18. Individuals are becoming more aware of immunization, and 1.28 crore people have been vaccinated to date.
