Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that the DRDO and other agencies are planning to build this technology. They will collaborate to build indigenous counter-drone technology that will be ready soon.

Last month, a drone attack on the Jammu Air Force base prompted the Home Minister to make this statement. On June 27, two Indian Air Force soldiers were injured in explosions that occurred shortly before 2 a.m. at a high-security airfield about 14kms from Pakistan’s border.

Drones have been detected hovering over military bases in the region many times since then, according to reports, and over 250 drones have been spotted along the Pakistani border since 2019. Shah stated that the smuggling of drugs, arms, and explosives through tunnels and drones is a major challenge. It is critical that we tackle these issues as soon as possible.

“To combat this new threat, the DRDO is developing anti-drone ‘swadeshi’ (indigenous) technology. Anti-drone research and development efforts have received our full backing.

I am certain that anti-drone technology will develop in the near future “While speaking at the 18th Border Security Force (BSF) Investiture Ceremonies, Shah remarked. “Use of Artificial Intelligence by groups across the border against India could happen. Working to defeat that too.”

At the investiture ceremony, Shah reminded top security officers that it is their obligation to find new technologies with the support of specialists. This will help India deal with the threat of enemies and terrorists using Artificial Intelligence and robotics technology.

The ceremony was attended by the head of the Intelligence Bureau, Arvind Kumar, the head of the Research and Analysis Wing, Samant Goel, the Director-General of the BSF, Rakesh Asthana, and the chiefs of other central police forces.

“India wants peace,” the Home Minister added, “but our security strategy is clear: we would respond in the same language that the enemy understands.”

“I respect those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. India is gaining ground on the international stage. These brave warriors and Bravehearts must not be forgotten. Because of the BSF and our paramilitary forces that protect our borders, India has a proud place on the world map.”

For their remarkable bravery, Shah with Ministers of State for Home Nityanand Rai and Ajay Kumar Mishra, and Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, presented posthumous medals to the families of deceased BSF troops.

The BSF has confirmed the awarding of 27 BSF members, including 14 police medals for gallantry and 13 police medals for exemplary service, according to a statement.
