On Sunday, police in Maharashtra’s Thane district uncovered a prostitution ring and arrested a lodge owner for allegedly permitting such operations on his property.

Officials from the Ulhasnagar crime unit’s anti-human trafficking squad searched the lodge in Ashole village in the Vitthalwadi region on Friday after receiving a tip, according to police spokesperson Jaimala Wasave.

According to the official, five women were rescued from the premises and taken to a rehabilitation centre.

According to the police, the premises owner was detained and a complaint was filed against him under relevant provisions.
