The Odisha government has devised massive plans to accelerate the Covid-19 immunization campaign, which is critical in the ongoing fight against Coronavirus. According to official sources, the State government would begin vaccinations in a campaign mode tomorrow, to vaccinate 3 lakh people every day (June 21).

Starting tomorrow, each block will have at least 5 sessions, each NAC will have 5 sessions, each municipality will have 10 sessions, and each municipal corporation will have at least 20 sessions. Over and above what is required, clear instructions have been sent to arrange additional sessions.

The State administration has also requested that District officials plan for both online and on-site seminars, depending on their practicality. At the same time, recipients who are due for their second dosage will be mobilized to guarantee that they are vaccinated on time. In the coming days, all District/Municipal Commissioners have been asked to ramp up immunization for 18-44yr and >45yr.

At the state level, a target of 3 lakh vaccinations per day has been set at the district level. Since January 16, the State government has given out 93.73 lakh medicines. 17.97 lakh citizens have received both doses of the vaccine and are fully vaccinated.“The state’s aim for citizens aged 18 and up is 3.09 crore” (6.18 crore doses). Currently, the average daily coverage in the state is less than 1.5 lakh doses.

According to an official release, “the Government of India would distribute the vaccine to our State based on vaccine consumption and vaccine wastage rate.” Officials have been urged to expand the 18-44 years and >45 years vaccination drives in all blocks and ULBs in a campaign mode under the amended COVID 19 Vaccination Drive plan. The state administration has also directed authorities to utilize all available stock (both central and state supplies) as quickly as feasible.
