Leader of the Congress Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that a day after the assistant latter claimed that it would meet the Gandhi, the unfortunate party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu was not scheduled to meet.
“Do not meet Sidhu,” Rahul told reporters outside his Delhi bungalow Tughlak Lane, leaving at 10 Janpath for his mom and the president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi.
In the midst of growing rumbles at Punjab Congress, a Sidhu assistant stated on Monday that Rahul and Party Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would be meeting in the national capital with Amritsar East MLA. On Monday, Sidhu left Patiala for Delhi. He did not answer any of this reporter’s calls or messages.
Rahul, who is making efforts to find a solution to the existing factionalism in Congress’ Punjab unit, held one-to-one meetings with more than 20 leaders, including ministers, MPs and MLAs, from the state last week.
A three-member committee constituted by Sonia to resolve the rift had, in its report on June 10, suggested that Sidhu be suitably accommodated in the state unit. However, the former minister, who has been critical of chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh for months, upped the ante about a week ago with a spate of interviews in which he accused him of colluding with the Badals.
