Sachin Tendulkar, a former Indian cricketer, and the legendary batsman have tested positive for COVID-19. On Saturday, the 47-year-old Mumbai resident took to Twitter to share the news (March 27).

“I have been testing myself and taking all the recommended precautions to ensure Covid is kept at bay. However, I’ve tested positive today following mild symptoms. All others at home have tested negative. I’ve quarantined myself at home and am following all the necessary protocols as advised by my doctors. I want to thank all the healthcare professionals who are supporting me and many others across the country. Take care of all of you,” Sachin tweeted.

Sachin was part of India’s World Cup-winning squad in 2011. When he scored an unbeaten 200 against South Africa in February 2010, he became the first man to score a double century in ODI cricket.

He topped the ODI cricket rankings for a total of 112 matches, or 354 days. He is also the youngest player to top the ODI batting rankings, having done so at the age of 8346 days in February 1996.
