Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has been admitted to Breach Candy hospital in South Mumbai on March 31 after doctors discovered a “problem” in his gallbladder, according to party leader Nawab Malik. Sharad Pawar will also have surgery, according to Nawab Malik.

Sharad Pawar was admitted to the Breach Candy hospital after complaining of stomach pain. Doctors discovered a problem with his gall bladder at the hospital. On March 31, Sharad Pawar will be undergoing a surgery.

Until then, Pawar has postponed all public activities until further notice.

The 80-year-old NCP supremo was a cancer survivor who underwent surgery in 2004.

Kind attention

Our party president Sharad Pawar saheb was feeling a little uneasy due to a pain in his abdomen last evening and was therefore taken to Breach Candy Hospital for a checkup. Upon diagnosis, it came to light that he has a problem in his Gall Bladder.

He [Sharad Pawar] is on blood-thinning medication which is now being stopped due to this issue. He will be admitted to the hospital on March 31 and an endoscopy and surgery will be conducted. All his programmes stand cancelled until further notice,” the NCP spokesperson said.

The news comes amid reports that Pawar met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday at the home of a prominent industrialist in Ahmedabad.

Shah avoided the question about the alleged meeting during a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday, claiming that not everything can be made public.

Malik, whose party shares government in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena and the Congress, said no such meeting took place and that the rumours were circulated to cause confusion.
