Tomorrow, the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy will launch the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN Bharat) (July 5).

Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, will launch the programme virtually.
During the program, a short film, anthem, and NIPUN Bharat Implementation Guidelines will be released.

According to a press release, the NIPUN Bharat Mission aims to establish an enabling environment to ensure the universal acquisition of basic literacy and numeracy. Such that by the end of Grade 3, every child has acquired the desired learning competencies in reading, writing, and numeracy.

Senior officers from the School Education Department from all states and UTs, as well as senior officials from the Department and heads of institutions, will be present.

The launch of NIPUN Bharat will be a huge step forward for the Department of School Education and Literacy, as part of a series of initiatives to implement the National Education Policy 2020.

Under the aegis of the centrally supported scheme Samagra Shiksha, NIPUN Bharat will be implemented by the Department of School Education and Literacy. A 5 tier implementation mechanism will be set up at the national, state, district, block, and school levels throughout the country

The New Education Policy 2020 had made many changes to the Indian education system. The changes will affect not only schools but higher educations too. NEP 2020 aims to make India a global knowledge superpower. This also made the cabinet change the ministry name from MHRD to the Ministry of Education.
