Gauranshi Sharma, a deaf and mute shuttler of Madhya Pradesh State Badminton Academy, has won gold medal in team event in the ongoing Deaf Olympics in Brazil.

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia greeted Gauranshi.

She said Gauranshi has proved that there is no dearth of talent in Madhya Pradesh.

He said the credit for nurturing Gauranshi’s talent goes to the better facilities and coaches of our academy. Also, I congratulate his devoted parents.

Her parents are also disabled, but they never let this become a hindrance in achieving her dreams.

The sports department has sanctioned Rs. 1 lakh for her training.

The Sports Minister said when Gauranshi attended the summer camp for first time at the TT Nagar stadium she was only seven years old.

Due to her dedication and passion, she is representing Madhya Pradesh State Badminton Academy, the minister said.

An amount of one lakh rupees has been sanctioned by the Sports Department for the continuous display of talent and for better training.

The sports minister said Gauranshi has made us proud by winning gold medal in Deaf Olympics.

“I hope that Gauranshi will bring laurels to the state and the country by winning a gold medal in the individual event as well”, the minister added.
