A special court in Tikamgarh rejected the bail applications of two former CMOs and two sub engineers of Nagar Panchayat Jeron Khalsa in Tikamgarh district were arrested for accused in Rs. 2.40 crore PM Awas Yojna scam.

On April 21, the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) arrested Nagar Panchayat Jeron Khalsa, former chief municipal officers Uma Shankar Mishra and Nawab Singh, sub engineers Sujan Gupta and Abhishek Singh Rajput.

They were produced before the court the same day and were sent to fourteen days judicial custody.

The special court rejected their bail applications during hearing on Monday, EOW superintendent of police Devendra Singh Rajput said.

The accused officials were arrested in Jabalpur and were produced before the special court in Tikamgarh.

During campaign for bypoll in Prithvipur assembly seat in Tikamgarh district in September 2021, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan received several complaints from the local people over alleged allocation of funds of PM Awas Yojna to ineligible persons for construction of house.

Instantly Chouhan than instructed the officials to take action against those involved in the corruption.

Later the EOW taken up the probe on instructions from the state government and a case was registered on January 10, 2022.

Four persons were arrested in the scam.

While investigation is going on in connection with remaining nine accused persons, the official said.

The investigation officer gathered several clues during examination of the documents related to the housing construction scheme against the four accused persons led to their arrest.

The 13 accused persons are there in the scam and case is registered against them under sections 420, 120-B, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and 7(c) of Prevention of Corruption Act.
