The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has released rules for conducting laboratory examinations. The exams will be for various Certificate Programs in Laboratory Techniques (CPLT) and Post Graduate Diploma in Analytical Chemistry (PGDAC) courses.

According to an official statement, a written lab exam will be held on September 25, 2021. It will be similar to the laboratory exam that was performed previously.

Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, candidates who have not completed the practical work have the scope to appear in the exam. The candidates of various courses of the Certificate Program in Laboratory Techniques (CPLT) and Post Graduate Diploma in Analytical Chemistry (PGDAC) Program will be examined in the lab.

Eligibility for Appearing in the Examination PGDAC Programme:

If you’re admitted to the CPLT Program in January/July 2018, January/July 2019, or January/July 2020.

If you were admitted in January/July 2019, January/July 2020, or January 2021.  

If the candidates were eligible to sit for the August 2021 term-end theory exams according to SED data, and if they failed any of the previous lab exams (Oct 2020 and March 2021).

Conduct of Examination and Pattern of Question Papers:

The examination would be conducted at designated centers and the candidates will be informed in advance about the examination centers.

– All the question papers will be of multiple-choice (objective) types.

– The duration of each examination will be 30 minutes for a 2-credit course.

-The maximum mark is 25 for a 2-credit course. Each question would carry 2½ marks.

-Candidates will be required to attempt 10 questions out of 15 for a 2 credit course.

How to Prepare for the Examination:

-All the question papers will be based on the printed materials of Laboratory Courses sent to the candidates.

-If printed course materials are not available, these may be accessed from e-Gyankosh.

The candidates are advised to:

-Study thoroughly the course materials of the Laboratory Courses that have been sent to you.

-Learn the basic theory and procedures as well as all the details given in the experiments comprehensively.

– Study the Observation Tables, sources of errors, etc. given in each experiment.
