In view of COVID-19, the University Grants Commission has issued guidelines on examinations and the academic calendar to all universities and colleges across the country.

According to the UGC’s announcement, first-year program admissions for 2021-22 should be finished by September 30 and the academic session will begin on October 1.

Examinations:
For the current academic session 2020-21, the provisions included in previously announced guidelines will apply. Furthermore, by no later than August 31, 2021, the Terminal Semester/ Final Year Examinations (2020-2021) must be performed in an offline (pen and paper)/ online/ blended (online-offline) format. Following the stipulated protocols/ norms relating to the COVID-19 pandemic is a must.

As stated in the 2020 guidelines, assessment for intermediate semester/year students will be based on internal evaluation and the previous semester.

Academic
The provisions of the UGC Guidelines of September 24, 2020, will apply to the present academic year too.

Higher Education Institutions may begin their academic session (in online/offline/blended mode) as soon as possible for intermediate semester/year students. The institutions must follow pandemic guidelines provided by the appropriate government/competent authority.

Higher Education Institutions must ensure that the screening process for undergraduate courses/programs for the academic year 2021-2022. It will begin immediately after the CBSE, ICSE, and State Boards have announced their results.

By July 31, 2021, all School Boards are expected to release their results for the class/grade XII examinations. Admissions to first-year courses/programs for the 2021-2022 academic year must be completed by September 30, 2021. The deadline for applications to fill the remaining open seats is October 31, 2021.

The qualifying examination’s relevant documents can be accepted until December 31, 2021. For first semester/year students, the academic session 2021-2022 will commence after October 1st, 2021.
