During the 66th Filmfare Award ceremony on Saturday evening, actor Ayushmann Khurrana met late actor Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan for the first time. Irrfan Khan’s award trophies were given by Ayushmann to his son Babil, who had arrived at the event to accept his father’s awards. Irrfan Khan won two awards, including a lifetime achievement award and a posthumous Best Actor Award for his role in the film Angrezi Medium.

Ayushmann Khurrana dedicated an Instagram post to Irrfan Khan, congratulating him on his “double victory” and expressing his delight at meeting Babil for the first time. He praised the late actor in the caption of the post, writing: “This is somewhere in Bandra.” He is, though, sleeping peacefully somewhere. He’s rejoicing about his two victories. Irfan, you’ll be remembered for the rest of your life! Male Best Actor and Lifetime Achievement Award! I had the privilege of presenting Babil Khan with the Filmfare Trophy.

After meeting Babil, Ayushman wrote in his Instagram post: “Met this beautiful boy for the first time. Would see him do well in the future. We artists are a unique species. We have our vulnerabilities and imaginations and theories. We rely on observations and experiences. We live and die a thousand deaths on the celluloid or on stage. But the power of those performances makes us immortal. Kalaakaaro Ka Kabhi Ateet nahi hota, kabhi vartmaan nahi hota. Jab bhi koi kalaakar jaata hai uska is tarah se samman nahi hota, kyuki har koi fankaar Irrfan nahi hota.”

Ayushmann also posted a photo of a graffiti painting of Irrfan Khan from one of Bandra’s walls, along with the lengthy message. Fans of both Ayushmann Khurrana and Irrfan Khan flocked to the post to show their support. In addition to fans, several celebrities, including Manvi Gagroo, Sayani Gupta, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and others, left heart emojis in the post’s comments section.

In a recent Instagram post, Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan mentioned Ayushmann Khurrana as one of his “favorite people in the world.” “My favorite people in the world: Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhupendra Jadawat, Karnesh, and Tripti Dimri, not in that order (outside family of course),” Babil wrote alongside a photo of himself with actor Jaideep Ahlawat from the red carpet of the Filmfare Award ceremony.
