In the midst of the second wave of covid-19, India saw the highest-ever single-day surge on Wednesday, with 184,372 new cases, bringing the cumulative number of covid cases to 13,873,825 cases.

This is the second-highest number of cases ever recorded in a single day by a nation. The United States was the only nation to report a higher number of cases in a single day, with 3.09 lakh cases on January 8 of this year. For the first time in 178 days, 1,000 Covid-19 deaths have been reported.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected district, with 60,000 new cases, UP with 17.96k cases, and Chhattisgarh with 15,000 cases. The recovery rate has been found to be below 90% in 12 states/UTs, with Chhattisgarh having the lowest rate at 75.8%.

Since the beginning of the year, India has seen a steady increase in Covid incidents. India had the largest daily count of Covid-19 cases a week ago, with 1,03,844 new cases recorded in a single day. The day’s total surpassed the previous high of 97,894 sets on September 16 of last year.

India had 1,45,384 new cases on April 10th, continuing the upward trend. On April 12, there were 1,68,912 new cases, down 4.25 percent from the previous day, with 1,61,736 new cases on April 13.

It’s worth noting that India’s 24-hour count has now surpassed 1 lakh for the fifth time since the pandemic began in 2020. After the United States, India is the second nation to pass the dreadful threshold.

About March 14, India had a total of 25,320 cases of covid-19. According to Hindu sources, only twice in January had the number of cases surpassed 20,000. According to current data, India is the second worst-affected country in terms of overall Covid-19 cases and the third-worst-affected country in terms of active cases.
