The Indian Railways has resumed e-catering services, so passengers will no longer have to bother about taking food on their journey. Passengers can use the e-catering service at more than 200 train stations across India, according to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

Passengers can order food from a variety of restaurants, which will be served to their seats on the train during the journey.

In a tweet, IRCTC said, “Train passengers can order food by visiting the website- http://ecatering.irctc.co.in or download IRCTC e-catering ‘Food On Track app. They can also call on the number 1323 for ordering delicious food from a vast menu.”

Passengers can order food on trains by simply entering their travel information. The information will include their PNR number, train name, and seat/berth number, on the website or using the app. The passengers can expect delicious and quick meals to arrive on trains.

Indian Railways also announced a special train for Pitru Paksha last month. Passengers can choose Cash On Delivery (COD) or make online payments during the purchase process, according to the IRCTC.

The Ministry of Railways has also approved the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all train carriages. The trains include EMUs and passenger trains. 4141 coaches have already been equipped with CCTV cameras.

The idea for a Video Surveillance System at all stations, except halt stations, has also been approved by the Indian Railways. The Nirbhaya Fund has sponsored the installation of an Integrated Enquiry Response Management System (IERMS) at 983 stations. This will improve the protection of female passengers.

CCTV cameras have been placed in 814 stations so far.
