Health Desk: A study claims that microwave ovens have emitted so much carbon dioxide throughout Europe as carbon dioxide emanates from around 70 million cars.

Researchers at the University of Manchester of the UK claimed this after a comprehensive study of the microbiological environmental impacts. This study found that around 77 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions were generated from the entire European Union. The amount of approximately 77 lakh tons of this gas, which is mainly responsible for ‘global warming’, is equal to the amount of carbon dioxide emitted from 68 lakh cars annually.

Every year the microwave consumes approximately 9.4 terawatts per hour in the European Union. This quantity is equivalent to electricity generated annually by three major gas power plants.
