Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was present in the Vidhan Sabha hall while two Bharatiya Janata Party candidates Kavita Patidar and Sumitra Valmiki filed nomination papers for Rajya Sabha election of June 10 next.

Later Chouhan met and deliberated with the candidates.

The BJP MP unit state vice president Sumita Valmiki and the party’s state general secretary Kavita Patidar is daughter of ex-minister Bherulal Patidar filed their nomination papers.

Several members of the state cabinet and BJP state chief and MP VD Sharma were also present on Tuesday.

Speaking to the reporters Kavita Patidar thanked the party and its leaders for her selection to contest Rajya Sabha election.

Valmiki who has been corporator thrice in Jabalpur Municipal Corporation she was elected as chairperson of Jabalpur MC in last term.

Three Rajya Sabha seats is getting vacant in June 29 next. While Congress candidate Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Vivek  Tankha filed the nomination papers on Monday. The Congress has repeated its candidate for the Rajya Sabha.
