According to police, a truck carrying over two lakh Covid-19 vaccines was discovered abandoned by the roadside near Kareli Bus Stand in Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur district on Saturday. They added that the truck was carrying up to 2,40,000 doses of Covaxin.

The Kareli Police had obtained reports that a truck had been abandoned by the side of the road for an extended period of time, but the truck’s driver and conductor were absent.

Kareli Police arrived on the scene after receiving intelligence, and while inspecting the vehicle, they discovered up to 2,40,000 doses of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.

“The cost of these vaccinations was projected to be about Rs 8 lakh. When police tracked the driver’s phone spot, they discovered it in bushes by the highway. The truck’s air conditioning was operational, indicating that the doses were healthy. We are searching for the truck’s driver and conductor, but they are currently untraceable “Sub Inspector Ashish Bopache of the Kareli Police Station said.


According to health officials, Madhya Pradesh registered 12,762 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the total number of infections to 5,50,927.

The deaths of 95 patients in the last 24 hours brought the total number of fatalities in the state to 5,519, they said.

So far in April, the state has reported 2,55,416 cases and 1,533 deaths.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 13,363 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking Madhya Pradesh’s recovery count to 4,53,331, they said.

Indore’s caseload increased to 1,09,029 with the inclusion of 1,789 new cases, while Bhopal’s increased to 88,060 with the addition of 1,811 cases.

Officials said that 10 people died in Indore, bringing the district’s death toll to 1,133, while three people died in Bhopal, bringing the total to 732.

Indore currently has 12,608 active cases, while Bhopal has 13,167 active cases.

There are currently 92,077 active Covid-19 cases in the state.

With 59,388 new tests, the cumulative number of coronavirus samples screened in Madhya Pradesh has surpassed 76.89 lakh.
