The Jabalpur police has arrested two bookies Manoj Sanpal and Deepak Rajak in a search in the cash collection centre of the online betting run from abroad, the police said.

Superintendent of Police Jabalpur, Siddarth Bahuguna received input from the informer on the night of May 19 about the betting is carried through open web from the cash collection centre in the commercial  building in Wright Town locality in Jabalpur, according to the officials.

When the searches was done in the cash collection centre two persons  namely Manoj Sanpal and Deepak Rajak were arrested, the police said.

Two other bookies Amit Sharma and Vivek Pandey are at large, the police said. 

On being questioned in relation to Amit Sharma and Vivek Pandey, they told the police team that Amit and Vivek have gone somewhere. When the police team inquired about the sitting and working of Amit and Vivek, they told both of them deal with money related to betting.

On searching two lockers were found in the centre, Rs.21.55 lakh cash was kept in one locker while in another locker 27 nos. seals of different companies, three loan books, seven notepads in which accounts of betting transactions was mentioned, 34 nos of cheque books, property related papers etc. were found were seized, similarly the registration certificate of Digital India Express in which the publisher’s name was Satish Sanpal too seized.

Superintendent of Police Jabalpur Siddarth Bahuguna (I.P.) discussed the seized cash and documents with the Income Tax officials, later a team from the IT examined the documents. The police has launched hunt for Amit Sharma and Vivek Pandey.

It is worth mentioning that Satish Sanpal stays abroad and through Open Web, through various sites betting was carried and payments were done online in accounts of benami firms, the police said.

The district administration on May 16 last removed illegal construction done by a betting king on 6000 square feet government land worth Rs. 4.20 crore in Adarsh Nagar Rampur locality of Jabalpur, an official said.

The illegal constructions done by betting king Satish Sanpal on 6000 square feet government land is removed.

The cost of the government land freed from encroachment is Rs.4.20 crore, he said.

While the construction worth Rs. 80 lakhs were demolished.

Presently Satish Sanpal is in Dubai and he operates betting chain from Dubai, he said.

The family members of Sanpal were present inside the residence when the action was taken by the administration.
