Veganism effectively provides nutrition to human body, with plant sources but it avoids intake of non-veg, meat and dairy products.
Organics and vegan diets are already trending among to-be brides and grooms and fitness freaks in the city.
Vegan diet excludes meat, eggs, dairy products and other animal-derived ingredients.

Vegan is in the vogue in Bhopal as well, and recently a fully vegan food based wedding happened in the city which had a variety of food items which were cooked by chefs invited from various cities of India like Mumbai and Chennai.
About 10 days ago, the guests attending Neha and Ashwin Jain’s wedding in the city were for a pleasant surprise. As the 500 odd guests browsed through the dinner buffet. They saw hundred dishes none of which had any dairy products in them. There were about 75 dishes to savour. And everyone of those was yummy to say the least. All-vegan spread featured dishes like matar tofu and Kadi made with whipped coconut cream and lime juice. Other than the plant based food items, many other dishes like Shri khand was prepared from coconut’s pulp, the milk in tea was made from cashew nut, Kheer was prepared by coconut water , etc.

“Serving vegan food to 500 wedding guests was a tough decision. But the growing acceptance of the trend and specially curated menu by chefs from Mumbai and Chennai helped in making it successful,” says Chetna Jain, Mother of the bride and architect of this completely vegan wedding. The Jain family is part of a small, but growing brigade that is trying to advocate veganism. Already popular across the world, veganism is now gaining ground in Bhopal too, with more people are opting for vegan catering at their parties.
The Jain family wedding, for instance, united many lovers of vegan food and activists from Bhopal and other parts of the country. Sameera shah, a vegan activist from Mumbai, who attended Neha and Ashwin’s wedding, shares, “The aim of supporting and being a part of such celebrations is to promote the goodness of vegan food. It is a matter of choice.”
What Makes Neha and Ashwin’s Marriage Different?
Their wedding ceremony was the first in Madhya Pradesh to upheld the principle of Ahinsa, Karunaa & Dayaa to the logically and practically possible levels as on today, to set an entirely new benchmark for one and all.

Bridegroom Did not Ride On Any Animal
No animal ride became a part of this wedding function. Usually all marriages in India use atleast one mare on which the bridegroom rides and all other guests goes dancing or jumping in merriment. But this marriage was different as in this wedding, all age old and established but cruel & oppressive wedding rituals and traditions were completely ignored to set new and progressive traditions.

Animal-Derived Musical Instrument Were avoided to Use
There were no musical instruments made of animals’ skin, except numerous dholaks which were made of wood and plastic only.
Even the Washrooms were provided with animal fat free soaps and, The blankets served to guests were not made of any animal wool, but artificial fibre.

Bhopal has been witnessing small get-togethers and parties where hosts and guests have opted for vegan catering. Neha and Ashwin’s wedding has indicated the beginning of a new cultural shift, deeper understanding of ethics and re-defining and re-evaluation of the value system as it is widely (mis-) understood today.
The tradition of vegetarianism is now being adopted in the meat-producing countries as well. At the global level, there is now a slogan is getting viral “Go Vegan!”. In the overseas countries, the number of vegetarians is increasing day by day. Vegan Diet or Jain Diet uses some other food items as a substitute for dairy products. Many times people also relies on Vegan Diet to reduce obesity.

Vegans or Jain community, through their own lifestyle tries to save the lives of all animals and minimize the violence in the world while living their life sustainably.
