Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has constituted a task force -2024 as part of its strategy and preparation for next Lok Sabha and State assembly elections.

Apart from it the Congress has set up the political affairs group and the central planning group for coordination of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The maiden meeting of the newly constituted Task Force 2024 was held at the office of the All India Congress Committee on Tuesday.

The task force comprises of Priyanka Gandhi, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Ajay Maken, Jairam Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik and other senior leaders.

The task force is assigned with the task to prepare strategies for the coming state assembly elections and next Lok Sabha elections.

The task force members will not take a collective decision on any issue instead their work is divided and each member will be assigned a department and a team, according to the party leaders.

Each member of the task force might be given specific work related to organisation, communication and media, outreach, finance and election management.

The task force will report to the Congress chief for any issues and how to tackle with those.

The group is formed to coordinate the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ comprises of various senior party leaders including Digvijaya Singh, Sachin Pilot, Shashi Tharoor.

In the Chintan Shivir held recently at Udaipur, it was resolved to take decisions for having a election management wing to contest elections effectively.

Apart from the Task Force 2024, the party the other groups are on political affairs for guidance on key issues and to coordinate the October 2 ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

The political affairs committee comprises members from the Congress Working Committee – Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Digvijaya Singh, Anand Sharma and other party leaders is a part of this group as well. The role of the committee will be to advise the Congress Chief on key issues and handle day-to-day matters related to the party.
