Second round of Covid vaccination has been kickstarted on Monday 1 March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi got his first shot of coronavirus vaccine on Monday. At Delhi’s premier All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, The Leader was given Bharat COVAXIN by Sister P Niveda, from Puducherry. Union health minister Harsh Vardhan and his wife Nutan Goel  also took the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine shot at Delhi Heart and Lung Institute on Tuesday morning.

PM Modi tweeted with a picture of him receiving the shot “Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS. Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19. I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!”.

PM Modi used humour to lighten up atmosphere during vaccination

Understanding that the AIIMS workforce are a little baffled by his demeanor, PM Modi used humor to relax them,

He asked Nurse Niveda, who had been assigned the task of vaccinating him if she was going to use a veterinary needle. No, the nurse didn’t completely grasp the question. He went on to say that politicians are infamous for their thick skin, so they were going to use a special thick needle on him. When the nurse heard this, she chuckled but also was comfortable.

The second stage of vaccination happening at a time when India’s active cases of Covid19 are under surveillance, eight states—Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh—have reported an increase in regular cases over the last two weeks.
