Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has claimed that Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh asked suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crore for him every month.

In a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Param Bir Singh made these accusations. The letter was penned on his letterhead and was unsigned.

According to his letter, Anil Deshmukh summoned Sachin Vaze to his official residence “several times” over the last few months and “repeatedly asked” him to “assist in the collection of money” for him.

“Sachin Vaze, who was heading the Crime Intelligence Unit of the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police, was called by Shri Anil Deshmukh, Hon’ble Home Minister, Maharashtra to his official residence Dyaneshwar several times in last few months and repeatedly instructed to assist in the collection of funds for the Hon’ble Home Minister,” Param Bir Singh claims in his letter.

Anil Deshmukh allegedly told Sachin Vaze that “there are about 1,750 bars, restaurants, and other establishments in Mumbai, and if a sum of Rs 2-3 lakh each was collected from each of them, a monthly collection of Rs 40-50 crores was possible,” according to Param Bir Singh.

ANIL DESHMUKH CLAIMS IT AS FALSE ALLEGATIONS

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has levelled serious accusations against him, which Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has dismissed as “false” and an attempt by the top cop to save himself.

In a tweet, Anil Deshmukh said, “Param Bir Singh has made these false accusations to save himself as well as to defend himself from further legal actions.”

Anil Deshmukh said in another tweet that Sachin Vaje’s involvement in the Antilia bomb scare case and the Mansukh Hiren murder case is “becoming obvious.”

“Why was he silent for all this time if he was informed about this in February? The only reason is to divert attention from the ongoing investigation in to explosive case as well as death of Mansukh Hiran as he is going to be in trouble for the same,” said Mr Deshmukh.

“He (Singh) is trying to blackmail the government after realising that he will land in trouble along with Sachin Waze in the explosive case. It is known that both Waze and Patil are close to Singh and the decision to reinstate Waze was taken in his capacity as no minister is involved in the same,” he added.
