Following a working committee and organisational meeting on Saturday, Mamata Banerjee, the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo, established the “one post, one person” concept in the party (June 5). Banerjee, the party’s leader, instituted the structure to prevent party officials from simultaneously holding several positions in the state government and the organisation. Partha Chatterjee, the party’s senior leader, confirmed the move, saying, “We have established the one post, one person” system in the party. We’ll be making further adjustments to the organisation soon.” This decision was made in order to ensure that the party’s internal operations and the state government run smoothly. State ministers will not be able to serve as district presidents, and district presidents will not be allowed to hold any government positions.

The party convened a meeting of its 21-member working committee, the first since winning the state legislature elections. Banerjee virtually met with ministers, top leaders, MLAs, and district presidents. Prashant Kishor, an election strategist, was also present at the meeting.
