After RR decided to bowl first at the Wankhede, Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali helped CSK launch their innings aggressively. Both, however, were unable to translate their strong starts into major wins.

Until Chetan Sakariya dismissed them in the same over, Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina formed a close partnership. MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran failed to get CSK going in the middle overs, but Dwayne Bravo’s cameo ensured the Super Kings finished on a high note with a total of 188.

RR got off to a good start thanks to Jos Buttler, but CSK won by 45 runs thanks to Sam Curran and Ravindra’s double-wicket spells, as well as Moeen Ali’s three-wicket haul.

Faf du Plessis top-scored for CSK with 33 runs, demonstrating the depth of their batting. CSK was able to reach the winning number thanks to a slew of minor donations. RR was up to 87 for 2 before crashing to 95 for 7.

Jos Buttler’s assault had RR’s chase off to a strong start. Manan Vohra started well as well, but after hitting a six off Sam Curran, he was trapped in the deep one pitch. Curran’s second wicket came from Sanju Samson, who was also caught on an attempted big shot.

In the Power Play, RR went 45 for 2, and Buttler took over. Ravindra Jadeja was the target of his assault, and he struck him for two fours and a six. However, in the 12th over, the left-arm spinner got his revenge with a peach of a ball that struck Buttler’s stumps. Shivam Dube, who had suffered for 17 off 20 in the meantime, was also dismissed lbw by Jadeja.

Then it all went downhill for Moeen Ali, who took three wickets in his first nine balls while conceding just one run. Riyan Parag and Chris Morris slog swept straight to deep mid-wicket after David Miller was out lbw attempting to sweep. Rajasthan had gone from being 87 for 2 to 95 for 7. After that, it was just a matter of time.
