India just needed a draw to qualify for the WTC final, but a win puts them in first place with 490 points, putting them in the top position for the summit clash. In the race, India won 12 out of 17 Tests, lost four, and drew one.

India faced a damage in the series when they were defeated the first Test against England by 227 runs. The Kohli-led side, on the other hand, fought back, winning the remaining matches and securing a place in the summit clash.

The fourth Test had to be won or drawn for India. If Kohli and his teammates had lost, Australia, who were in third place with 69.2 percentage points, would have qualified for the tournament final.

Now, India will be in the WTC finals between 18 and 22 June at Lord’s, and will be facing Kane Williamson’s New Zealand.
