Jeep India has finally released the locally developed Jeep Wrangler in the region. The Wrangler’s made-in-India edition is priced strongly at 53.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The 5-seater off-roader is now available in India as a semi-knocked down (SKD) unit rather than a fully assembled unit (CBU). Last month, Jeep began local assembly of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler at its Ranjangaon manufacturing facility near Pune, Maharashtra. Around the same time, the firm began taking pre-bookings for the SUV.

The current Wrangler is part of Fiat Chrysler’s Indian market growth policy. For the next two years, the company will spend more than $250 million to expand its footprint in India with the introduction of four new sport-utility automobiles (SUVs) under the Jeep name. Although the 2021 Jeep Compass was the first commodity to leave the Ranjangaon factory, the latest Wrangler is the second. The other two products will be a three-row Jeep SUV and the next-generation Grand Cherokee.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler comes in two base models: Unlimited and Rubicon. The locally manufactured Wrangler features a distinctive seven-slat grille, round LED headlamps, fender-mounted side markers, 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, LED taillights, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and other features. The SUV also comes with the option of removing the roof and doors. The SUV will be released in five different paint options: black, firecracker red, granite crystal, sting grey, and brilliant white.

The interior of the current Jeep Wrangler has been significantly redesigned, including a refreshed dashboard and center console. It also comes standard with an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment device with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as UConnect 4C NAV, enabled technology. Push-button ignition, dual-zone temperature control, luxury leather upholstery, passive keyless entry, and other features are included. The Wrangler has 60 safety and security features, including electronic stability control, hill start assist, pick speed control, electronic roll mitigation, tire pressure monitoring system, driver and front passenger airbags, supplemented seat-mounted side airbags, and front and rear seat-mounted side airbags review camera and more.

The 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine will be available in the Jeep Wrangler 2021. The engine is tuned to produce 262 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, and it’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It has a new Selec-Trac full-time 4WD drive system that operates with sensors to detect traction slip.
