In the wake of an alarming rise in coronavirus cases in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the state government on Thursday prolonged the night curfew hours in districts where infections have been particularly high.

In districts with over 2,000 operating Covid-19 incidents, the UP government has increased the night curfew from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Noida, Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Kanpur Nagar, and Gorakhpur are among them.

The latest regulations come when the number of cases in the state has risen alarmingly. For successful monitoring of the Covid pandemic during the upcoming festivals of Navratri and Ramzan, the state government has already imposed restrictions on gatherings of five or more people in religious areas.

Uttar Pradesh’s schools will also be closed until the 15th of May. After a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government announced today that board exams for students in classes 10 and 12 have been postponed until May 20.

According to a source, the new dates for the board exams will be determined in the first week of May.

“Schools up to class 12 are being closed till May 15 and no examinations will also be held during this period. Also, UP board examinations for classes 10 and 12 have been postponed till May 20,” an official said.

Exams for the Uttar Pradesh Education Board is set to begin on May 8 Besides this, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday that Uttar Pradesh had the second-highest number of new Covid-19 cases in the country, with 17,963.

According to a statement released by the ministry on Wednesday, the state had the third-highest number of Covid-19 deaths in the world, with 85.

In the last 24 hours, India recorded 2,00,739 new Covid-19 incidents, 93,528 discharges, and 1,038 deaths, according to the ministry.
