During the COVID second wave, more over 1000 instances of mucormycosis were reported in Delhi, according to Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

The city has documented 1044 cases of the normally uncommon fungal illness until Wednesday, according to Jain, a jump in which significant ties have been found between COVID, the use of immunosuppressants such as steroids in its treatment, and diabetes. It is well known that the illness has a significant fatality rate. So far, 92 individuals have recovered completely, while 89 have died as a result of the sickness.
