Kerala BJP chairman K Surendran was charged on Thursday with bribing tribal leader and Janadhipathya Rashtreeya Party (JRP) president C K Janu to run as an NDA candidate in the state Assembly elections on April 6.

The news comes only one day after a judge in this city ordered the police to file a bribery prosecution against Surendran. According to police, the FIR was filed under Sections 171 E (bribery) and 171 F (punishment for undue influence or personation in an election).
