POLITICS UPDATE:

~The Centre on Tuesday appointed new Governors of eight states, an announcement that has come amid reports of the Union Cabinet reshuffle.

~The Union Cabinet expansion is most likely to happen this week and will be the first of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government’s second term in office.

~Jyotiraditya Scindia whose defection led to the collapse of the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh last year, is likely to be rewarded for his role in getting the state back for the BJP.

~Thaawarchand Gehlot, who currently holds the portfolio of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, was one of the eight new governors appointed by President Ram Nath Kovind.

~PS Sreedharan Pillai, Governor of Mizoram, has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Goa. Satyadev Narayan Arya, Governor of Haryana, has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Tripura.

~Ramesh Bais, Governor of Tripura, has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Jharkhand. Bandaru Dattatraya, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Haryana.

~Hari Babu Kambhampati has been appointed as the Governor of Mizoram. Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel has been appointed as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh.

~Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar is now the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. According to sources the Union Cabinet reshuffle is expected to take place at 10.30 am on Thursday, July 8.

~Amid the keenly awaited expansion of the Union Council of ministers, at least 3-4 ministers may be dropped says sources.
