Fourteen persons killed and 43 injured in a road accident in Sidhi on Friday night.

The accident occured after a tyre of a truck burst due to which the driver lost control over the truck that hit two stationary buses, according to the officials said.

The injured were admitted in Rewa Medical College and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached Rewa Medical College and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in the night and consoled the bereaved family members.

The buses were boarded with the villagers returning from Satna back to their native after attending Kol Mahakumbh.

He inquired from the doctors regarding the treatment provided to the injured persons.

Chouhan said ‘best medical facilities are being provided to the injured. I pray that our injured brothers and sisters get well soon’.

Our first priority is to make better arrangements for the treatment of the injured. If necessary, the injured will also be taken by air ambulance for treatment elsewhere, he said.

A relief amount of ₹ 10 lakh will be given to the next of kin of the companions who did not survive in this unfortunate accident.

Dependent relatives of deceased persons will be taken in government service according to their eligibility, Chouhan said. We will make arrangements to provide assistance of ₹ 2 lakh to the seriously injured and ₹ 1 lakh to the general injured.

Full concern will be given to the family of the deceased. We stand with the families of the victims in this hour of crisis, he said.
