The Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Police recovered large quantities of brown sugar and unaccounted cash. It was found from a house in Odisha’s capital city on Wednesday, marking a big victory in the fight against narcotics smuggling.

Soumendra Priyadarshi, the head of the Twin City Police, told reporters that a special team raided a house in Kesura in the Saheed Nagar. They seized around 550 grams of brown sugar and Rs 34.80 lakh in cash.
In connection with the incident, a young man and a woman have been arrested.

The Priyadarshi reported the recovery of such a large amount of drugs and cash as “shocking.” The raid was a success of the Commissionerate police’s months-long crackdown on illegal drug trafficking in the Twin Cities.

During the raid, an Alto car and two motorcycles were also seized from the property. The arrested woman’s husband is a well-known drug dealer in the area, and a manhunt has been launched to get him, according to Priyadarshi.

During the investigation of the case filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the police will pay careful attention to the drugs syndicate’s cash trail. According to the Police Commissioner, the wanted peddler may have destroyed a large number of drugs before departing the house to avoid capture.

Police will investigate this angle as well. He also stated that those held in custody in connection with the case have connections in the Balasore district. This is considered the main gateway for the movement of illegal narcotic consignments into Odisha from West Bengal.

In the last two months alone, the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District has seized 2.2 kg of brown sugar. The Cuttack UPD region has seized 3.1 kg of drugs.
