A 39-year-old man committed suicide by drinking toxic substances at his Subash Nagar residence on Saturday; he registered unease and was admitted to a private hospital where he died during treatment.

According to the police, the deceased Himanshu Gote claimed illness and rushed to the nearest hospital where he died during treatment.

The police could not find any suicide note or motive behind the suicide and believed that the reason behind the suicide is already being investigated.

In the initial probe, the police found that the deceased used to run an LPG agency in Sultanpur, and on Saturday, family members found a froth coming out of his mouth and took him to the hospital where he died during treatment.

The body was sent for post-mortem after the proper investigation. The police have reported a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have begun further inquiries.

Under the COVID-19 lockdown, records show a rise in the number of possible suicides.

Suicide is complicated, with several things contributing to it. 

People have become more nervous as a result of the continued instability. So individuals who had a slight anxiety spectrum earlier progressed to moderate and extreme depression. When distress is serious, the type of self-harm behavior increases.

If a person has a common cold or cough, they become worried and start to panic and speculate that it may be covid. They’re also concerned about the economy, employment, and EMIs. They are anxious about the future’s instability.

In contrast to 2019, the suicides identified during the lockdown were by considerably older persons, with those between the ages of 31 and 50 being the most common. During the lockdown, a higher number of male suicides were registered. Additionally, people who were married and working were more likely to commit suicide.
