Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Monday that six Assam Police jawans died while protecting the state’s constitutional boundaries. The announcement comes after new violence erupted in Assam’s Cachar area as a result of a border conflict between Assam and Mizoram.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has personnel on the ground in Cachar district, according to CRPF sources.

“The Assam side has agreed to return. We’re also attempting to persuade the Mizoram side to withdraw. The situation looks to be tight but under control at the moment “CRPF sources confirmed this.

In a tweet on Monday, Assam Chief Minister Sarma said, “I am deeply pained to inform that six brave jawans of @assampolice have sacrificed their lives while defending constitutional boundary of our state at the Assam-Mizoram border. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.”

Several jawans from both Assam and Mizoram were also hurt in the fight, which occurred on Monday in Assam’s Cachar district’s Lailapur region.

According to residents of Cachar district, at least 65 people were hurt, including officers, who were transported to local hospitals. According to residents, up to 40 of them have been referred to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

In response to the events, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga informed media outlets on Monday that his administration “strongly condemns” the government of Assam’s “unjustified act” in this “intrusion and assault” into Mizoram’s land.

“The Government of Mizoram deeply regrets the needless injuries on both sides which could have been avoided,” Chief Minister Zoramthanga said.

Assam Police have retreated from the scene, and border posts have been given back to CRPF troops, according to Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, following intervention by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“The Mizoram government wants the inter-state boundary dispute with Assam to be addressed in a peaceful and amicable manner. As a result, we urge Assam to establish a conducive atmosphere for a peaceful resolution of the conflict “Zoramthanga, the Chief Minister, stated.

The chief ministers of Assam and Mizoram had earlier asked Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene in the situation on Monday.
