Residents of village Sukalya Kshipra of Dewas district have also joined the lakhs of beneficiaries of “Jal Jeevan Mission” in the state.
1378 families resides in the village has 5128 population.
Earlier there was water problem in the village.
The villagers were forced to bring drinking water from the Kshipra river. Drinking water arrangement was a big challenge in summer.
Now a high level tank and 6400 meter water distribution network has been constructed in the village at a cost of Rs 1 crore 61 lakh. Germ purifier has also been installed for clean and pure water. Today all 1378 houses are getting regular, abundant and pure drinking water.
Sarpanch Vishwas Upadhyay told that earlier drinking water was arranged by the Panchayat by digging tube wells, which had problems in its regular operation. Jal Jeevan Mission has fulfilled the basic needs of the villagers. Village Drinking Water and Sanitation Committee has been constituted for smooth drinking water system, which continuously monitors the scheme. The scheme is being operated by Sanjana self-help group.
Hansa Patel, member of the committee and president of Sanjana self-help group, says that women have benefited the most from the mission. Earlier, he used to spend a lot of time in filling water and also had to do physical labor.
Today women are able to do other economic activities along with farming. Women are trained in water testing and water testing at regular intervals, she said.
The work of water tax collection and accounting is being done by the members of Sanjana Self-Help Group, she said.
Due to this, the members of the group are also getting financial benefit, she said.
The group also creates awareness among the villagers about the maintenance and conservation of water, she said.
Now 55 liters in every house in the village. Tap water is available daily per person, she added.
