Covid-19: Mumbai records less than 1,000 cases 4th day in row, Maharashtra  steady below 16,000 | Mumbai News - Times of India

In Maharashtra, the number of active Covid-19 cases is decreasing. On Tuesday, there were 82,082 active cases, with 6,258 new Covid-19 cases reported by the state.

The number of active cases had dropped to 88,729 on Monday, down from 94,985 on Sunday. Last week, the number of active cases fell to 96,375 on July 19 from 103,486 on July 18.

On Tuesday, 344 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Mumbai, with five deaths. The total number of cases in Mumbai has reached 734,759, with a death toll of 15,850. On Tuesday, 181,593 tests were performed, with 12,645 recoveries reported.

The total number of cases filed in the state is 6,276,057. The death toll stands at 131,859 people, with Pune leading the way with 18,395 deaths, followed by Mumbai (15,850) and Thane (10,997).

Pune has the most active cases (15,344), followed by Thane (9,510) and Kolhapur (8,749).

Ishwar Gilada, secretary-general, Organised Medicine Academic Guild, said numbers are still a matter of concern. “The majority of active cases are from Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur and Ahmednagar districts and there seems to be no respite in sight. The overall tally will continue to be high till this is reined in,” Gilada said.

Meanwhile, 568,575 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday, taking the total number of doses given to 42,325,437.
