The Madhya Pradesh Vidyut Mandal Abhiyanta Sangh (MPVMAS) appealed Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his intervention to prevent the Electricity (amendment) Bill 2022 to be table in the monsoon session of Parliament without seeking views of consumers and employees.
The Sangh has backed the appeal of AIPEF to Union government to seek views from consumers and power employees before the bill is table in the monsoon session of Parliament, MPVMAS general secretary Vikas Shukla said.
The meeting of the national coordination committee of electricity employees and engineers meeting is scheduled to be held under umbrella of All India Power Engineers Federation on July 20 next to deliberate on the issue and further course of action will decided.
The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has sent a letter to the Union Power Minister demanding the draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 should not be put up in the monsoon session of Parliament in a hurry without holding talks with electricity consumers and electricity workers appeals.
The Federation has also sent letters to the Chief Ministers of all the states in this regard.
The All India Power Engineers Federation has sent a letter to the Union Power Minister RK Singh, demanding recently released draft of Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022, without detailed discussion with all the stakeholders, especially the electricity consumers and electricity workers should not be introduced in the monsoon session of Parliament in haste, Shukla said.
The concern of the Federation is that the draft of Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2022, issued few days back, is incomplete and insufficient to amend the Electricity Act 2003, he said.
There should be complete transparency, comments should be sought from everyone as the amendments will have far-reaching effects on consumers and electricity employees, he said.
