Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that effective measures should be ensured to prevent road accidents in the state. Inspire people to drive the vehicle in a controlled manner. The meetings of the District Road Safety Committees should be held at the stipulated time. There should be patrolling on the roads.

CM Chouhan was directing the officers in the meeting of the Madhya Pradesh State Road Safety Council in Mantralaya. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Home Rajesh Rajoura and senior officers were present.

Chouhan gave instructions to improve the situation by marking black spots on the roads. He said that the improvement work of roads should be done on top priority by fixing a time-limit. Accidents should not happen due to black spots. He said that the departments related to roads should work in coordination. Road engineering works should be done properly.

Chouhan said that awareness campaign should be launched for the safety of the people. Work strictly according to the campaign. It is very important to save people’s lives. Make people aware through short video films. People should wear helmets and follow the rules of driving. Take action to issue challans using technology. There should be cent percent recovery of challans. Accidents are also caused due to looking at or talking on a mobile phone while driving. Such accidents should be stopped strictly.

Chouhan said that take action with alertness to change the wrong habits of being careless while driving. Make efforts to prevent road accidents by involving social workers, local public representatives and the general public. He said that action should be taken by sending a proposal to the Government of India to open a driving school. He said that the work of checking the fitness of the vehicles should be undertaken in an effective manner. Trauma care centres should be opened in every district. Cattle obstruct traffic on the road, concrete arrangements should be made to remove them.

Chouhan said that the parking arrangements should be good. A campaign should also be launched to remove encroachments from the roads, so that black spots do not remain. The number of vehicles on the roads is continuously increasing, keeping this in mind, the recruitment of traffic police should continue.
